Alhambra is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit registered with Stanford’s Office for Religious and Spiritual Life (ORSL) as the official MSU SAR affiliate. We are a small group of Stanford alumni volunteers and their families, recruited based on organizational need, including board members, staff, and consistent volunteers.
Alhambra exists to support the MSU and all Muslim students on campus. A joint Steering Committee is composed of MSU executive board members and Alhambra’s SAR advisors, who work together to determine the scope and make shared decisions on topics where MSU needs support. The MSU is fully student-led. Students have full autonomy to plan student-only events, book campus spaces, and propose events for university approval.

Alhambra works alongside campus partners—including ORSL, the Markaz, and other organizations serving Muslim students—to provide coordinated, comprehensive support. Each group has its own mission and scope. As the MSU’s independent external affiliate, Alhambra focuses on chaplaincy, community programming, institutional advocacy, and endowment building in complement to student-led MSU activities.
